Preparate con los Leones URB.San Jose, Mayaguez,PR
The Mayagüez New Voices Lions Club continues leaving pawprints in our communities through the “Prepare with the Lions” project, bringing education, action, and disaster preparedness in the face of natural emergencies. 🌪️🌊🌎
On this occasion, we were in the San José community alongside community leader Estela López, where we conducted a nighttime evacuation drill and shared valuable information on how to be prepared for an earthquake, hurricane, or tsunami.
Thanks to the support of the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), we distributed emergency kits, reaffirming our commitment to keeping communities safe and prepared. 🙌
Also joining this important effort were Representative Lilly Rosas, the Puerto Rico Seismic Network, the Municipal Office of Emergency Management, the Municipality of Mayagüez, and our fellow Leos from the Hostos Leo Club. 💪
At exactly 7:00 PM, the alarms sounded and the evacuation toward Villas del Oeste began. Despite the wet and muddy conditions, the community successfully completed the route in just 16 to 20 minutes! 🚶♀️🚶♂️
👉 Following the evacuation exercise, Peter EMT Responder, a member of the CERT San José team, provided educational talks on how to assist injured individuals in different emergency scenarios. Although the hands-on drills could not take place during the evacuation due to the rain, attendees still received practical and valuable guidance. Young volunteers from Misión Rescate also participated actively in these workshops. 🚑👏
We continue evaluating, learning, and strengthening the preparedness of our communities. 💛
Because Lions leave pawprints… pawprints that make a lasting difference in the lives of others. 🦁✨
