Lions Club Lucknow Kapurthala District 321B1 and NCC cadets of Government Girls Inter College Shahmina Road took a pledge to protect the environment by planting trees in the college premises on the occasion of the conclusion of the Service Week. Cleanliness drive was organized by Lions Club Lucknow Kapurthala and UP Battalion of NCC, in which the Lions members and NCC cadets organized different programs for the entire week and advised the people to live cleanly.
During Service Week, the main focus of the Lions members and NCC cadets was to avoid plastic bags and use toilets, leaving the practice of open defecation. Lions members and NCC cadets understood the importance of cleanliness to save the environment throughout the week and took it to the people.
Addressing the cadets after the tree plantation program was completed on the concluding day, the Principal of the college said that our environment has been endangered due to meeting the needs of the increasing population and tampering with nature. Changes in weather, reduced rainfall and winter in the past few years indicate that the threat of global warming is increasing.
Lions Clubs International District 321B1 Public Relation Officer Lion P.K. Chowdhary said that tree plantation is the only way to save the earth and life on it. Lion members adopted the trees planted in the college premises. Lion Virendra Singh President of Lions Club Lucknow Kapoorthala taught NCC cadets to plant more and more trees and take care of them.
On the occasion, the cadets in one voice took a pledge to plant trees on every special occasion to save the environment. Senior teacher Lion Purnima Chaudhary also explained the importance of cleanliness to the cadets.
