Diabetes screening
Caravane du Diabète, held from 2 to 10 June 2026 across New Caledonia, brought diabetes screening and awareness activities to communities throughout the territory, including Mont-Dore, Nouméa, Dumbéa, Païta, La Foa, Bourail, Poya, Koné, Poindimié, Koumac, and Ouégoa.
In partnership with the Association des Diabétiques de Nouvelle-Calédonie, the campaign screened more than 400 people.
About 10% of participants were identified as possible diabetics, highlighting the importance of early detection. The initiative also had a strong positive impact by promoting physical activity and better nutrition as key ways to help prevent diabetes.
