Serving Safely in Brazil

When the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the world in 2020, Lions had to figure out different ways to serve safely. Safety became the number one priority as COVID-19 ravaged one community after another.

Thankfully, Lions in Third International Vice President Fabricio Oliveira’s District LA-5 in Brazil received a US$10,000 LCIF Emergency grant to purchase 5,000 face shields,5,000 triple layered disposable masks and 7,891 simple disposable masks to be donated to a nearby hospital receiving patients within the states of Paraiba, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte. Thanks to this LCIF Emergency grant, Brazilian Lions were able to make a difference in their community—simply by helping keep others safe.

Our district is grateful to LCIF for empowering the Lions to quickly respond to the needs of our local hospital and enable them to safely treat community members suffering with COVID-19. This is what makes me proud to be a Lion.
