🦁🌪️ Lions Club of Mayagüez Nuevas Voces impacts Barrio Maní with preparedness workshops, environmental cleanup, and recreational activities alongside Lions Clubs International Foundation and partners 🌊💛
📅 October 12, 2025 – Mayagüez, Puerto Rico – In an effort to strengthen community preparedness and promote public safety, the Lions Club of Mayagüez Nuevas Voces carried out an educational, recreational, and service-oriented event in Barrio Maní, focused on the global cause of Disaster Relief and Environmental Protection, both supported by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). 🌍💪
The main activity took place at the Barrio Maní Community Court, where the educational workshop “Get Ready with the Lions” was offered. Participants enjoyed talks, information tables, recreational activities, and the distribution of emergency kits 🧰, encouraging preparedness for hurricanes, earthquakes, and other risk situations.
This initiative was made possible through the support of LCIF, Elevance Health Foundation, Carelon Foundation, and MMM, who joined our mission to empower communities through education and preventive action. 🌪️🌊
During the event, the ShakeOut Puerto Rico practice was also integrated, highlighting the importance of being prepared for seismic events and reinforcing community resilience. ⚡️📚
As part of the same service effort, we carried out a beach cleanup 🏖️ at Playa Boquilla in Barrio Maní, reaffirming our purpose of caring for the environment 🌿 and protecting our natural resources. This action represents the balance between humanitarian service, environmental sustainability, and healthy coexistence. 🌎💚
We extend our heartfelt thanks to ShakeOut Puerto Rico – Puerto Rico Seismic Network, ASSMCA, the Salvation Army, and all volunteers and residents of the community who joined us for this impactful, educational, and recreational day. 🙌
