My Kilimanjaro Climb for LCIF
I recently scaled Mount Kilimanjaro – the tallest mountain in Africa.
It is a 7-day long trek and can be quite demanding – physically and mentally. I learned that around 35,000 people attempt to Climb Mount Kilimanjaro every year — but only 40% of them reach the summit. Trekking over 75 Kms, climbing miles almost vertical, staying in camps and huts, crossing rivers and mud, surviving at -25⁰ bitterly cold temperature freezing your bones on top at summit and overcoming the fatal heart rates and low oxygen levels at 5900 metres altitude over a period of 7 days, I can proudly say that I have tested my limits. And thanks to God and all those who have considered me in their prayers.
I have never been to Africa before and neither do I have any prior experience climbing mountains. So why and how did I do it?
I did it to challenge myself and to see how far I could go for a cause that I truly believed in.
The trek was an eye-opener and has had a deep impact on me. It made me realize that nothing is impossible if we put our minds to it. And most importantly, it made me realize that it is always the ordinary people, like you and me, who can do extraordinary things. Every day presents us with many opportunities to make a difference in someone’s life. To make a difference. To be the change. Education. Illness. Access to clean water. Health. There are so many ways! Our PSAT team including me as President MJF Ln.Rajesh SV, Secretary MJF Ln.Manesh P, Treasurer MJF Ln.Anish N and Admin MJF Ln. Bino, worked really hard behind this Project and successfully raised 65,000 AED / 18,000 USD so far and counting.
What I ask of you, gentlemen is to make such a change. LCIF supports 8 worthy causes, benefitting millions around the world. I hope you and your organization will generously support these initiatives or any other cause that is close to your heart. The funds raised was transferred to Lions Club International Foundation LCIF Mumbai in April/May and we the «Model Lions Club of Kottayam Emirates», thus recognized as the 3rd Club in India to be 400% Model Club and the 4th in ISAME region. Proudly LCIF also recognized us with PMJF awarding to all members and we became a 100 % PMJF Club thereby. It is said that the smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention. I’m not asking you to climb a mountain, but rather to lighten the load of our fellow travellers a little. One act of kindness at a time! Together we can Change! We are the Change!
