LC Magnificent Mahavir Nagar’s Unnati
Unnati – Mega Health Camp was a large-scale, multi-sectoral service initiative organized by the Leo Club of Magnificent Mahavir Nagar in the Leoistic year 2024–2025. Held at St. Mary’s High School, Charkop, Kandivali West, the camp reached an impressive 3,269 beneficiaries in a single day, with a total expenditure of ₹2,15,354. This initiative was adopted and reimagined from a district-level service concept and aimed to create lasting grassroots impact. Rooted in the values of Leo District 3231 A3, Unnati became a shining example of inclusive, sustainable service.
What truly set Unnati apart was its comprehensive nature—covering all eight global service areas designated by Lions Clubs International: Diabetes, Vision, Hunger, Pediatric Cancer, Environment, Disaster Relief, Youth, and Humanitarian Efforts. The event was meticulously planned to offer preventive, curative, and awareness-driven services through a unified platform, reaching vulnerable sections of the community.
The camp featured a variety of activities tailored to different needs. Free Diabetes Check-Ups benefited 326 individuals with sugar testing and lifestyle counseling, while a live Fire Safety Drill, conducted in association with the Charkop Fire Station, trained 300 people in emergency preparedness and first aid. The Environment focus was addressed through a Sapling Plantation Drive, promoting ecological awareness and sustainability.
A massive General Health & BP Check-Up camp provided screenings for over 880 people, including BMI and basic vitals. Addressing adolescent health, especially for girls, Anemia Screening was offered to 105 individuals through hemoglobin testing and guidance. One of the most impactful segments was Mission Meals 5.0, through which hot, nutritious meals were served to 880 underprivileged individuals, tackling hunger directly and effectively.
To raise awareness on lesser-discussed health topics, the camp included a Pediatric Cancer Awareness Seminar that educated 105 attendees on symptoms, myths, and early detection. Eye health was also prioritized with Vision Screenings for 578 people, culminating in the donation of free spectacles to those in need. Rounding off the day were Kids’ Games and Emotional Well-being Activities for 105 children, aimed at nurturing mental health and social skills.
The event would not have been possible without the collective efforts of 26 Leos, 66 generous donors, and 59 student volunteers from KES College. Key partnerships with the Robin Hood Army (Kandivali West) and several doctors and medical professionals further strengthened the project’s impact. Altogether, the team contributed 1,014 Leo hours, making Unnati a true display of commitment, coordination, and community service.
Through its scale, structure, and spirit, Unnati embodied the club’s motto—“United for Impact”. It brought together healthcare, education, youth engagement, and civic preparedness into a single transformative day. Beyond just a health camp, Unnati became a model for what Leoism can achieve when passion meets purpose. The Leo Club of Magnificent Mahavir Nagar proudly nominates Unnati for the “Best Service Activity” award, as a testament to the power of unified, meaningful, and compassionate service.
