CELEBRATION OF GIVING—DIST: 317B SUCCESS STORY
Golden Jubilee of District 317 B—Celebration of Giving—A Success Story
The Lionistic year 2025–26 holds special significance for Lions District 317 B, as it marks the 50th year of its founding—a Golden Jubilee of selfless service and community commitment. To commemorate this milestone, the incoming District Governor, PMJF Lion Jaiamol Naik, envisioned a bold and meaningful tribute: a grand gesture of giving to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).
The vision was clear yet ambitious : a $50,000 donation to LCIF on the day of the new team’s installation, and the induction of 50 Melvin Jones Fellows (MJFs/PMJFs) before 26th July 2025. While the idea captured imaginations, it also stirred doubts. At the Pre-Cabinet Meeting in Madgaon, Goa on 17th May 2025, whispers of skepticism rippled through the Lions. Was this aspiration too high even before the team officially took charge?
Amid the murmurs of uncertainty stepped in PMJF Lion Rais Ahmed, the newly appointed LCIF Coordinator—unassuming, calm, and purposeful. Without fanfare, he silenced the room with a stunning declaration:
“I pledge to donate $25,000 to LCIF.”
The air changed. Disbelief turned to awe, and applause thundered through the hall. But Rais wasn’t done. To motivate others, he shared a compelling incentive Each of the first 50 MJFs would receive $118 from the district, and another $118 from him personally. The tone shifted dramatically—from doubt to determination. Applause followed, not just for Rais’s generosity but for the DG’s foresight in choosing him. Inspired, DG Jaiamol added further spark: a new initiative—the “Golden Club of the District Award.” Any club achieving 100% member contributions of at least $10 each to LCIF during the year would earn the title.
Rais extended his support further, promising to top up 25% of any club’s total LCIF contribution if all its members donated. What began as a vision quickly ignited a movement. Region Chairpersons stood one after another, pledging regional support. The meeting transformed into a festival of promises and resolve. Emboldened by this fire, Rais raised the bar again : 60 MJFs before the installation!
The result?
On Day Zero, even before the official term began, the district had already raised $68,000 for LCIF, including 12 PMJFs and 56 MJFs. 21 clubs had qualified as Golden Clubs, setting a new benchmark for unity and giving.
District Governor Jaiamol Naik beamed with pride, knowing that the Lions of 317 B had proven something powerful : that when a noble cause calls, Lions never falter. They step up with heart and action—Ready to Give, Ready to Lead, and always Ready to Serve.
