You Never Know Who You Will Serve
Just a few days before Christmas, our club received a phone call regarding a young mother of two with twins on the way any day and was told her husband had left her! It only took a few minutes to make phone calls to get approval to purchase food and gifts for this needy family. With money in hand, and a drive to Walmart, we returned to deliver the surprises! Unbeknownst to me, the surprise was on me! When the young lady answered the door, we both stood there speechless for a few moments, and I said, „Our Lions Club felt you needed some help.“ The young lady visibly pregnant and two little boys hugging each side of her leg was one of my previous students I had while working at the local high school! Tears began falling in all directions and I left speechless. From that moment on, I knew what being a Lion meant.
