United in Service: Hunger Week of Service
In alignment with the Global Cause of Hunger of Lions International, various Lions Clubs of District 321B1 actively observed the Global Hunger Week of Service (3–11 January 2026). These meaningful service initiatives reflected the collective resolve of Lions to combat food insecurity with compassion, dignity, and sustained commitment. All activities were carried out under the inspiring guidance of District Governor 321B1 PMJF Lion Dr. R. C. Mishra and the focused leadership of District Hunger Chairperson MJF Lion Manisha Khare, whose vision and direction significantly strengthened the impact and outreach of the programs.
At Partaker Puram Chauraha, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, Lions Club Lucknow Swabhiman organized a food packet distribution drive as part of the Global Hunger Week of Service. The initiative aimed to support daily wage workers and underprivileged sections of society by providing timely and nourishing meals. Club members participated with dedication, and the program was further encouraged by the presence of Region Chairperson Lion Som Prakash, whose involvement reinforced the spirit of unity and service among Lions.
During the same service week, Lions Club Lucknow Eklavya undertook a Food for Hunger initiative at Khunkhunji Kothi Chowk, Lucknow, in collaboration with Ram Ki Rasoi. Freshly prepared meals were distributed among the needy, reflecting empathy, cooperation, and effective community partnership. The program, led by Lion Kishore Kumar Jaiswal and his team, demonstrated how teamwork and local collaboration can make hunger-relief efforts more meaningful and sustainable.
Adding a deeply humane dimension to the service week, Lions Club Lucknow Anind Prakash organized a special lunch program at King George’s Medical University, Lucknow, for cancer patients’ attendants. Providing nourishing meals during such challenging times offered not only physical sustenance but also emotional comfort and hope to families in distress.
Further strengthening the collective impact, Lions Club Lucknow Prakash conducted a food distribution activity in the Ashiyana area of Lucknow, reaching needy families and individuals. Lions Club Lucknow Century led by Lion Dr. Rama Shankhdhar & Lion Alka Bhattacharya extended its humanitarian service by distributing meals to patients and attendants at RML Hospital, while also serving children at the National Blind School, Lekhraj Khajana, ensuring that care and nourishment reached some of the most vulnerable sections of society. Lions Club Bahraich Asha distributed food in District Hospital Bahraich.
These activities also echo the mission of the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), which empowers Lions worldwide to undertake large-scale humanitarian projects. Through LCIF support, Lions are able to expand the scope of hunger alleviation initiatives and create long-term, sustainable impact.
In conclusion, the observance of the Global Hunger Week of Service by Lucknow Swabhiman, Lucknow Eklavya, Lucknow Anind Prakash, Lucknow Prakash, Bahraich Asha and Lucknow Century Lions Clubs stands as a strong testament to District 321B1’s unwavering commitment to the Global Cause of Hunger, truly reflecting the Lions’ enduring motto “We Serve.”
