Three Generations, One Roar
In the culturally rich city of Lucknow, where traditions are cherished and values are passed gently from one generation to the next, their lives a family whose story is inseparable from service. For them, Lionism is not merely an organization or a designation, it is a way of life, a moral compass, and a legacy of compassion. This is the inspiring story of three generations united by one mission and one roar: service to humanity.
At the foundation of this remarkable journey stands Lion Alka Bhattacharya, Secretary of the Lions Club Lucknow Century, District 322B1. A woman of quiet strength and unwavering commitment, she has devoted her life to the ideals of Lions Clubs International. Her leadership reflects discipline, empathy, and vision. While she handles her official responsibilities with precision, her true identity shines through her heartfelt dedication to society.
Lion Alka Bhattacharya is a Melvin Jones Fellow. Regularly contributing generously to Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) the global charitable arm of Lions Clubs International. LCIF supports large-scale humanitarian causes worldwide, including disaster relief, vision care, healthcare, education, hunger alleviation, and environmental initiatives. Through her contribution, Lion Alka extends her service far beyond local boundaries, touching lives across nations and continents.
Her commitment to service is deeply personal. In loving memory of her late husband, Dr. Vimal Bhattacharya, a distinguished Chest Specialist from King George’s Medical University, she has instituted annual scholarships for two meritorious college students. Through this noble initiative, she transforms remembrance into opportunity, honoring a life devoted to healing by empowering young minds. These scholarships reflect her belief that true service must uplift future generations.
This spirit of Lionism naturally shaped her home. Her children grew up witnessing service not as an obligation, but as a way of life. Values such as empathy, responsibility, and generosity became their shared inheritance.
The second generation carries this legacy forward through Lion Dr. Ambika Bajpai, a devoted educator with a Ph.D. in History and a Professor in a Degree College. In the classroom, she teaches history; beyond it, she instils ethics, awareness, and social responsibility. Inspired by her mother, she views education itself as a powerful form of service. For her, Lionism complements her academic mission, transforming knowledge into compassion and learning into leadership.
She also serves as a bridge between generations, nurturing her children in the same values she inherited. In her home, Lionism is lived daily, not preached.
The third generation stands as living proof that service, when nurtured early, becomes instinctive. Leo-Lion Poloumi Bajpai, a member of the Lions Club Lucknow Century, reflects maturity and purpose beyond his years, understanding that the Lions emblem represents responsibility, not recognition. His younger brother, Leo Ratnin Bajpai, the cheerful President of the Leo Club Lucknow Century, brings youthful energy and joy, symbolizing the hopeful future of Lionism.
Adding further strength to this legacy is Lion Anupriya Awasthi, another daughter of Lion Alka Bhattacharya and a dedicated member of the Lions Club Lucknow Century. Through her own individuality and commitment, she reinforces the family’s shared belief that service is a conscious and noble choice.
This is not merely a story of three generations, it is a story of continuity, values, and vision. From Lion Alka Bhattacharya’s humanitarian leadership and global contribution through LCIF, to Lion Dr. Ambika Bajpai’s service through education, to the promise of the Leo generation, Lionism flows seamlessly across time.
Three generations. One mission. One roar, serving humanity with compassion, dignity, and hope.
