The Tactile Gift of Kindness
The Tactile Training Area offers one of the greatest gifts to individuals who are blind: independent mobility.
Situated in the shared garden of the Six Dots Foundation for the Blind and the Istanbul Visually Impaired Rehabilitation Center, this thoughtfully designed outdoor space helps blind trainees build essential navigation skills.
Over the course of a six-month training program, participants gain the confidence and competence needed to move through life with greater freedom and autonomy.
In 2023–2024, Üsküdar Lions Club transformed this vision into reality with support from the LCIF Vision Grant.
The project was further strengthened through the partnership of Kızıltoprak Zühtüpaşa Lions Club. Both clubs proudly serve on Istanbul’s Asian Side (District 118 Y).
This meaningful initiative is shared here in loving memory of Lion Nursel Uluçam, whose unwavering dedication and heartfelt efforts helped bring this project to life. She served her community with pride, compassion, and the true spirit of being a Lion — side by side with her fellow members at Üsküdar Lions Club and Lions around the world.
