Special Olympics Florida — Melvin Jones Fellow

As part of the continued collaboration across the US State of Florida, Special Olympics Florida Chief Executive Officer (and Melvin Jones Fellow (MJF)!) Sherry Wheelock has bestowed upon Special Olympics Florida athlete Kerry Ford the distinguished Melvin Jones Fellowship!

Kerry Ford is an exemplary Special Olympics athlete and community leader since 2014, and competes in basketball, swimming, soccer, tennis and more. She has worked at the supermarket Publix for 26 years, and she is recognized as a strong employee and member of the Publix family. She is also a volunteer for the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics Torch Run and much more. The LCIF-Special Olympics partnership is thrilled that Kerry has been recognized in this way, and we are equally excited to learn that the Lions Clubs of Florida were on hand to witness the plaque presentation in the company of the Publix and Special Olympics families. Lion Steven Van Varick (District Governor 2021-22) from the Ocoee Lions Club was on hand and provided great support.

Thank you for the opportunity to recognize athletes in this way while also supporting one of the most impactful, inclusive and pioneering Foundations in the world today-LCIF.
