Services for Former Leprosy Sufferers Sitanala
One weekend in the month of February 2026, members of the Lions Club District 307A1 visited a neighborhood behind the Sitanala Leprosy Hospital in Tangerang, Indonesia. Entering a small alleyway, the Lions, led by District 307A1 Governor, Hastuti B. Kresna, distributed food and gift boxes containing basic and daily necessities to former leprosy sufferers.
The event was also held to celebrate the Chinese New Year of Kong Zili 2577. Therefore, these underprivilege patients were also given red envelopes, symbolizing blessings and good fortune, with prayers for good fortune and a better life.
Although the former sufferers were delighted and excited to receive these gifts, they faced difficulties taking them home, as most of them had limbs deformed by leprosy years ago. Furthermore, 23 of these nearly 270 former sufferers still require assistance in the form of prosthetic legs, wheelchairs, and canes.
To support these needs, a fundraiser was held by selling paintings on Chinese New Year’s Eve at Angke Heritage PIK 2 on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The paintings were donation donated by Yayasan Lions Indonesia District Coordinator, Lion Honggo Affandy. All funds raised from the fundraiser will be immediately allocated to provide for the needs of the 23 people.
