đŠ Lions Club of MayagĂŒez Nuevas Voces Creates Community Impact with Lions Clubs International Foundation and Partners through Emergency Preparedness Initiative
MayagĂŒez, Puerto Rico â In a joint effort to strengthen community preparedness for emergencies, our Lions Club of MayagĂŒez Nuevas Voces organized an educational and social impact activity focused on the Disaster Relief Global Cause, one of the eight global causes promoted by the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). đđȘ
This initiative was made possible with the support of LCIF, Elevance Health, Carelon Foundation, and MMM, organizations that joined forces to distribute emergency kits 𧰠and provide essential information on how to respond to natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes đȘïžđ.
During the event, we encouraged community participation in the âGreat Puerto Rico ShakeOutâ, an island-wide earthquake preparedness drill aimed at strengthening public awareness, education, and emergency response skills. đđ€
As part of this service initiative, our members also carried out a coastal cleanup at Boca Morena Beach đïž, located in the El Seco neighborhood of MayagĂŒez, reaffirming our commitment to environmental protection and sustainability đż. By combining disaster preparedness with environmental stewardship, we seek to build safer, more resilient, and cleaner communities.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Alberto Trabal, Director of the Puerto Rico State Emergency Management Office, and the Municipal Emergency Management Office of MayagĂŒez, for their participation and collaboration. đ We also thank the Salvation Army, the Educatorsâ Cooperative, the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico â District 19, and Representative Lily Rosas, as well as the Municipality of MayagĂŒez, whose support was essential for the success of this initiative.
