Our Young Lions Take the Court
There are moments in service that fill our hearts with a different kind of pride. August 15, 2026 was one of those moments.
Inside the Costa Brava Gymnasium, the energy was unmistakable. Young athletes arrived in their uniforms, families cheered from the sidelines, and teams from across Bacolod City gathered for the opening of the BSA Philippines – Bacolod Leg.
Among the 32 participating teams were young players carrying a name very close to our hearts—the Bacolod City Host Lions Club Under-12 and Under-14 Basketball Teams.
Watching them walk onto the court was more than seeing a basketball team represent our club. We saw young boys learning what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves.
Every pass teaches them to trust a teammate. Every practice teaches discipline. Every difficult play teaches perseverance. Every victory teaches humility, and every defeat gives them the courage to stand up and try again.
For the Bacolod City Host Lions Club, this is what youth empowerment looks like.
It is giving children opportunities to discover their abilities. It is creating spaces where friendships are formed, confidence is built, and values such as teamwork, discipline, respect and sportsmanship are learned through experience.
As our U-12 and U-14 teams begin their journey in this tournament, we know there will be exciting victories and challenging games ahead. But beyond trophies and final scores, there is already something worth celebrating.
They showed up. They stepped onto the court. They carried our name with pride. And they dared to compete. Someday, these young athletes may forget the scores of some of their games, but we hope they will always remember the teammates who stood beside them, the people who believed in them, and the lessons they learned while wearing the BCHLC colors.
To our young Lions: play hard, play fair, believe in one another, and enjoy the journey. You are not only playing basketball. You are building character, creating memories, and becoming the champions of tomorrow.
And from the sidelines, the Bacolod City Host Lions Club will be cheering proudly every step of the way
