Leo Naimur Hossain: A Green Youth Leader

Leo Naimur Hossain, the dynamic President of Leo Club of Dhaka Dynamic One (2024-25), is proving that one person’s vision can inspire a movement. At just a young age, Naimur has already made an indelible mark on Bangladesh’s environmental landscape. As the founder and key leader of U-CAN (United Climate Action Network)—an initiative under SHADOW (Society for Humanity Development Over the World)—he has mobilized hundreds of volunteers across the country to plant over 100,000 trees since July 2023.

For Naimur, tree planting is not just about greening the environment; it’s a symbol of hope, sustainability, and collective responsibility. His vision extends beyond forests to urban areas, engaging schools, colleges, and community groups to participate in plantation drives, educational workshops, and awareness campaigns aimed at reducing plastic pollution and promoting eco-friendly practices.

”I believe that climate action starts with small steps,” shares Naimur. ”Each tree we plant today will stand as a guardian for the next generation. We’re not just planting trees—we’re planting futures.”

But Naimur’s service doesn’t stop with U-CAN. His commitment to community development is reflected through his diverse roles: he is an active member of the Rotaract Club of Dhaka Orchid, contributing to various social initiatives, and serves as a Rover Mate of the Golden Eagle Open Air Scout Group, mentoring youth in leadership and outdoor skills. Through these platforms, he has led projects focusing on disaster response, health awareness, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

Naimur’s relentless dedication has not gone unnoticed. In recognition of his impactful work, he received the National Service Award and Community Development Award in 2023. His achievements continued into 2024, earning him a second National Service Award and the prestigious Messenger of Peace Award from the global scouting community—acknowledging his contributions to building peace and sustainability at the grassroots level.

Under his leadership, U-CAN has also partnered with local governments and NGOs to expand its reach, bringing environmental education to rural areas and launching cleanup campaigns against plastic waste in rivers and public spaces. His approach combines advocacy, hands-on action, and youth mobilization, creating a ripple effect of environmental stewardship across the nation.

”It’s not just about what we achieve individually,” Naimur reflects. ”It’s about inspiring others to join the cause, to realize that we all have a role in protecting this planet.”

As Leo Naimur continues his journey, we proudly celebrate his achievements, leadership, and unwavering commitment to service. His work embodies the core values of the Leo Club Program—Leadership, Experience, Opportunity—proving that young leaders can indeed make a world of difference.
