Barangay San Rafael 4, Noveleta Cavite March 20, 2021 10AM

Earth sustains human life and environment is a big part of it. We cannot live without it and their natural resources so we are accountable to take care of it. Environment is part of Lions Club International and Lions Clubs International Foundation five areas of Global Causes. So, the Multiple District 301-A2 Philippines launched the project with theme of “Isang Diwa, Isang hangarin, Kalikasan ating Kalingain”, it is a Nationwide Environmental Project. It was participated by all Lions and Leo Club of Region 3 on the said event including Cavite City Lions Club, MJF and 3IDF Cavite City Leo Club of Cavite City.

Last March 20, 2021 and it was fine weather, the sun shine out tremendously but it does not stop the Cavite City Lions Club, MJF and 3IDF Cavite City Leo Club and other Lions Club to execute the Mangrove Planting & Community Clean up Drive as response to Nationwide Environmental Project of Multiple District. The event was started by a short program thru delivering of inspirational message from our District Governor Usec Benny Antiporda, 2PMJF, 1st Vice District Governor Ma. Jesusa Antiporda, Region 3 Chairperson Cynthia Abellar and Hon. Mayor Dino Chua, the Mayor of Noveleta.

After the short program, we proceeded to the place where the Mangroves will be planted. While we were on our way to the plantation, we also did Community Clean up drive by picking up garbage and separated the trash into biodegradable, plastic, cans and woods. Cavite City Lions Club, MJF and 3IDF Cavite City Leo Club worked together harmoniously because of their good team work and cooperation, they can easily finish the project.

And when we came to Ilang-Ilang River, there was a boat waiting to take us into the Mangrove Plantation. Riding in a boat together with your members in Lions and Leo Club was so much fun and indeed it was such an unforgettable experience.

Upon arriving at the mangrove plantation, we brought the plants one by one to the planting area. Each members of Cavite City Lions Club, MJF and 3IDF Cavite City Leo Club have assigned plants to be planted. With the help of DENR employee, we properly planted the Mangrove seedlings in their designated places. After planting, we wandered around and at the same time cleaned the area by picking the trash. The tiredness and the extreme heat that we felt were gone because we know that our small sacrifices have a huge impact not only to the environment but also in our own lives and into our future. Mangrove plays an important role in our lives. They provide essential habitat for thousands of marine organisms, including different species such as fish, crustaceans and mollusks, as well as being home to birds, insects and other wildlife. Apart from supporting the earth’s food systems, mangroves are the planet’s protectors against the catastrophic consequences of climate change. They served serve as nature’s buffer between land and sea, they protect coastal communities from storm surges caused by typhoons and control erosion along the shoreline so that the waters would not easily engulf land. Just like any other trees, Mangroves deserve the care and protection that they deserved before it’s too late.
