International Blanket Donation Drive
Service to man and humanity is service to God. The organization has provided us with a platform of opportunities where we can serve the needy in true sense of term. With this intention, our club Leo Club of Gauhati, the oldest club of Leo District 322G conducted an International Blanket Donation Drive to help the needy beat the harsh winters in South Asia, specifically.
This drive was started in the month of November 2021 and continued till 31st January 2022. In these months, the scope of this project almost reached its zenith when we saw a participation from total 43 Leo & Lions Clubs from across 6 countries namely India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal & Burkina Faso. Each one of them participated and distributed Blankets and Warm clothes to the needy in their respective societies.
As per the verified reports from each clubs received, the final statistics of this project stands at the following:
Total blankets distributed: 4529 pieces
Total warm cloths distributed: 420 pieces
Total Beneficiaries: 4949
Total Leos present: 295
Total Leo Hours: 608
The important part of this project was the scale of happiness and satisfaction it provided. This is a signature project of our club. However it was earlier conducted only in our local city area Guwahati. But this Leoistic Year 2021-2022, with a team work effort of all the members from our club, we could conduct this Internationally.
Noteworthy to mention is the fact that, each of this clubs were awarded with a physical copy of Participation Certificate as a token of Appreciation instead of an E-certificate. I on behalf of the club express my thankfulness to each club.
To sum up, I would like to convey that each society has a different need and each need is required to be identified and then fulfilled with a unified efforts. Bringing smiles in the face of needy & deprived is what our main intention should be. In this fiscal year also, we shall be conducting similar projects.
