Free Vision Screenings at International Trade Fair
Lions of Northern Greece (District 117B – N. Greece & Cyprus) successfully completed five consecutive days of free vision screenings with their Mobile Vision Screening Unit at the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair, in close partnership with volunteer ophthalmologists from the 1st Ophthalmology Clinic of AHEPA Hospital.
From September 8 to 12, the specially equipped unit welcomed visitors of all ages, offering them comprehensive eye examinations, early detection of potential vision problems, and valuable guidance for maintaining healthy eyesight. More than 150 people had the opportunity to be examined — many of whom might not otherwise have access to such specialized services.
This impactful initiative was made possible through the heartfelt dedication of 30 Lions, representing 10 different Lions Clubs from across Northern Greece. Their active presence and volunteer spirit ensured the smooth and successful implementation of the project, transforming the Fair into a true space of service, solidarity, and hope.
The Mobile Vision Screening Unit, a 100% LCIF grant, reflects the Lions’ broader mission: to prevent avoidable blindness, to promote public health, and to serve communities with compassion. Each examination performed is not simply a medical act, but a gesture of care, dignity, and inclusion.
With passion and unwavering commitment, the Lions of Northern Greece continue to bring vision, light, and hope to society, proving once again that where there is a need, there are Lions ready to serve.
