Lions Club of Nasik Star Food Donation Drive and Sanitizer Distribution.

As the 2nd wave of the Corona pandemic struck and the nation went into an enforced lockdown, many were left jobless, homeless and staring hunger, poverty and joblessness right in the face.
LCONasik star identified the scarcity of food amongst the worst affected section of the society: the sweepers, rag pickers maids and domestic helps, barbers and others. The beneficiaries included an unique combination of rural and urban integration.

1000kg of oil
# following all pandemic norms, namely social distancing, hand disinfection, awareness on hygiene measures; In a phased manner, consisting of 9 drives, on different locations, food packets were handed over right into the hands of the beneficiaries. The quantity was planned so as to feed them for a period of approximately 4 weeks.

# food grains providing maximum nutrition were selected after talking to the beneficiaries and their needs were identified.
# an appeal was made through newspapers, radio, what’s app, Facebook and other social media.
# funds were raised from generous friends, relatives and other lions clubs were also supported the drive ( thanks to Lc of nasik, lc of nasik corporate, lc of pune ganeshkhind )
Total amount spent: over 6 lakhs
# a group of 30- 40 ladies only were contacted and called at any given point in time.
# importance of hand sanitation, wearing masks, vaccination, social distancing in Corona times was explained in detail. Awareness regarding the 3rd wave and it’s repercussions was also created.

#reached over 4000 beneficiaries
# donors from all over India and overseas tapped, resulting in excellent brand and image building for Lions Clubs brand building crossed the national borders too
# record breaking 4lacs were raised in 4 days, 2 lacs in the next 3 days
# all forms of social media highlighted the drive including, radio, Facebook, what’s app, Instagram etc
# every member was involved at some point in time right from planning, raising donations to execution of the activity
