Fighting Hunger in India
I found it so amazing that these Leos were empowered to dream big dreams. They were able to expand their own horizons and expand on what they were able to do for their community. I was very grateful to be included in this activity.
Hunger and malnutrition are something that India struggles with on a day-to-day basis. 400 Leos and 50 Lions in India, joined by International Second Vice President Dr. Patti Hill and her husband, Lion Greg Holmes, prepared and distributed 2,600 food boxes to children across areas of Kolkata and Howrah. The goal of the project was to create a day where no child went to sleep hungry. The boxes were spread among nine areas and were distributed by Leos. Each food box contained a coleslaw sandwich, puffed rice, chocolate biscuits, fruit cakes, and juices. Thanks to a LCIF Leo Service Grant, they were able to make a bigger impact in their community and serve society in their own way.
