EYE CHECK-UP CAMP
Under the Global Causes – Vision initiative, Lions Club Lucknow Ashish District 321B1 successfully organized a Vision Screening Camp on 28 December 2025 at Vishwa Peetham, Kursi Road, Lucknow, in association with Lucknow Eye Care Trust. The camp stood as a meaningful example of compassionate service aligned with the mission and long-standing legacy of Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), which continues to support sight-saving initiatives across the world.
The primary objective of the camp was early detection of eye-related problems, prevention of avoidable blindness, and improving access to quality eye care for underserved sections of society. Thanks to meticulous planning, dedicated teamwork, and the spirit of selfless service, the camp witnessed encouraging participation from the local community. A total of 177 patients underwent comprehensive vision screening during the program.
Out of the patients screened, 18 individuals were identified as suitable candidates for cataract surgery, a condition that remains one of the leading causes of reversible blindness, particularly among the elderly. The remaining patients were diagnosed with refractive errors and advised corrective spectacles, ensuring timely intervention and improved quality of life. Necessary guidance and follow-up procedures were also explained to the beneficiaries.
A special highlight of the camp was the awareness and counselling session conducted by Dr. Nandini from Lucknow Eye Care Trust. She sensitively addressed the gathering on the importance of eye hygiene, regular eye check-ups, preventive care, and safety measures to protect vision in daily life. Her interaction helped educate the community about simple yet crucial practices that can prevent long-term eye complications.
The camp was held under the leadership of President Lion Mohini Srivastava & Secretary Lion Reeta Antervedi , Lions Club Lucknow Ashish, whose commitment and coordination ensured the smooth execution of the activity. The presence of Past District Governor Lion B. M. Srivastava further inspired the team and strengthened the morale of volunteers and members. Several club members including Lion Dr Ravi Prakash Singh actively participated in registration, crowd management, patient assistance, and coordination with medical professionals, reflecting the true Lions spirit of teamwork and service.
This service activity strongly reflected the vision of LCIF, which has been a global leader in supporting eye care programs, cataract surgeries, vision screenings, and awareness campaigns worldwide. By aligning local service with global priorities, Lions Club Lucknow Ashish reaffirmed its commitment to the Lions motto of “We Serve”, transforming compassion into tangible impact.
The Vision Screening Camp not only brought immediate relief to beneficiaries but also reinforced the message that preventable blindness can be eliminated through awareness, timely diagnosis, and collective action. Such initiatives demonstrate how Lions, supported by LCIF’s global vision, continue to make a lasting difference, one life, one sight, and one community at a time.
