Empowering Special Needs Students Through Sport

Our club proudly embarked on a meaningful project to sponsor the construction of a Bocce Court at a Special Needs Secondary School (SMK Tabuan Jaya) in Kuching, Sarawak, to enhance its capacity to train special needs students in vital sports skills and empower them to participate in Special Olympics competitions. This facility will also enable the school to organize Special Olympics events, including state and national tournaments. The delivery of materials began on August 2024, and construction was completed by November 2024.

The official handover ceremony for the Bocce Court was held on 14th December 2024. The event was attended by the Principal of SMK Tabuan Jaya, representatives from Special Olympics Kuching Chapter, teachers, and members of our club. We were also honored by the presence of the Region 1 Chairperson (Ln Marie Isabel Lim), Zone 3 Chairperson (Ln Judy Hii), and the District 308-A2 District Governor (Ln Annie Ho), who served as our Guest of Honour. As part of the same event, our club also donated 6 recycling bins to the school, further promoting sustainability and environmental awareness within the school community.
