Club-35
Lions Club Lucknow Astitva District 321B1, is primarily a ladies club with an average age of our members being 35 plus. Whenever we would get together, someone or the other had some health issues to discuss, which was pretty obvious of the fact that all of us were getting closer to menopause or had already crossed the bridge. One of our members, Dr. Shikha Gupta, who is a Naturopath, would always have some simple solutions to our problems and sure enough they worked.
It was during a club meeting that the seed of “Club-35 ” initiative germinated. Women from every strata of society go through hormonal, psychological and physical changes as they cross 35 years of age. Women from the weaker financial backgrounds tend to put their problems on the back burner. Health becomes their last priority- thus the thought of giving back to the society and making the lives of women better prompted us to start the Club-35 initiative in association with Health is Wealth Holistic Clinic, run by our very own Dr. Shikha Gupta. The initiative was to provide free advice, consultation and treatment to all women above the age of 35, through naturopathy. The air, water, earth, sunlight in our environment has the ability to cure us.
The Club-35 initiative was launched and inaugurated on November 6th, 2019. The initiative received media coverage in The Hindustan Times- a leading newspaper. This only helped us to reach out to more households. Dr. Shikha gives free counseling to all women on the 6th of every month from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Ever since the launch of Club-35, we have been able to help women to deal with the changes their mind and body goes as they start aging. Every household has women working as maids, so we encourage them to give this free opportunity to those working in their houses to come forward and solve their problems with no dent in their pockets.
In the difficult times of the pandemic COVID-19, the initiative did not lose its pace, as soon as the unlock started we were back online on 6th of every month. Astitva is proud to be associated with this initiative of Club-35 and take it to new heights by making a difference in the lives of the women who actually need caring.
