Cavite ASMEPPS Lions Club Ignites Digital Learning
Cavite ASMEPPS 103-A Lions Club Ignites Digital Learning with STARBOOKS Donation: ‘When There’s a Need, There’s a Lion’
True to their creed of service, the Cavite ASMEPPS 103-A Lions Club has once again proven that “When There’s a Need, There’s a Lion.” In a bold stride toward bridging the digital divide, the club recently donated cutting-edge computer units equipped with STARBOOKS (Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS) to public schools and local government units. This initiative, executed in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) and the Association of Science and Mathematics Educators of Public and Private Schools (ASMEPPS), aims to revolutionize STEM education in underserved communities.
Empowering Futures Through Innovation
The STARBOOKS interface, preloaded on the donated computers, offers students and educators free access to thousands of digitized science and technology resources—from interactive modules to research journals. By planting these “knowledge kiosks” in schools, the Lions Club is nurturing curiosity and inspiring a new generation of Filipino scientists, engineers, and innovators.
A Legacy of Community-Driven Impact
Under the leadership of Charter President Lion Celia S. Rasing, the Cavite ASMEPPS 103-A Lions Club has consistently roared for progress. Beyond this tech-forward project, their contributions include donating benches, tables, and educational tools to schools—efforts that mirror their mission to uplift education and foster sustainable development.
