Building Futures Through Experience
To celebrate its 65th Charter Night anniversary, the Sapporo Acacia Lions Club held Children’s Career Experience 2026 at Asty Hall in Sapporo, Japan, on April 25, 2026. The event offered children with disabilities an interactive introduction to different careers.
Supported by an LCIF DCG, the project aimed to foster a deeper understanding of and interest in future employment opportunities among children with disabilities. Through hands-on vocational experiences and interactions with local businesses and employment support organizations, participants were encouraged to explore the possibilities of meaningful work and greater independence. In collaboration with community businesses, vocational support agencies, and welfare organizations, the event provided a wide range of practical career experiences.
Lions members themselves organized and operated several activity booths, including a flower shop, legal quiz challenges, financial literacy education, and nail care experiences. In addition, local companies and employment support organizations generously contributed their expertise, resulting in a total of 21 activity booths that served 359 participants. Through these experiences, children gained valuable insights into the world of work and were encouraged to think about their future employment, independence, and participation in society. The event also created meaningful opportunities for parents, caregivers, support professionals, and community members to build new connections and strengthen their support networks.
Service is at the heart of Lionism. This project reflects our commitment to responding to the evolving needs of our community. It was made possible not only through strong community partnerships but also through the culture our club has cultivated over many years, where experienced members encourage and support the ideas and initiatives of younger and emerging leaders.
When a helping hand is extended, it creates smiles, hope, and inspiration, which in turn reach others and continue to grow. As we celebrate our 65th anniversary, we see it not as a milestone alone, but as the beginning of a new chapter. Looking toward our 70th anniversary and beyond, we remain committed to expanding the circle of service alongside even more partners and volunteers, creating lasting impact throughout our community.
