Sharing is Caring for the Orphans and Elderly
District 301 A3 Philippines heeded the call for Relieving Hunger Week of Service at Hospicio De San Jose ,Manila. Our club Manila Achievers LC participated in this district activity headed by District Governor Jaypee Cruz. This is the first social welfare institution in the country, a home for the orphans, the abandoned , persons with special needs and the elderly.
We chose this institution because of various types of people who needs help and assistance. They need care and comfort not just from the social volunteers but also from the people outside it.
Last January 11, 2026 we visited the institution and brought daily basic needs. Various clubs from the district brought sacks of rice, medicines and vitamins, food essentials, toiletries, baby and adult diapers, and nutritious rice meals . Some clubs also donated wheelchairs for the elderly.
This day also coincided with the 147th birthday of Lions International Founder MELVIN JONES, so this is really a special occasion not just for fellow Lions, but to the recipients as well. It was indeed a day well spent with the children and elderly.
