LCIF impact to end hunger touches lives in Africa
Lions International has made significant contributions to fighting hunger worldwide through its “Relieving the Hunger” initiative and other humanitarian efforts. Every year, millions of people receive food assistance through Lions-led programs. Through food distribution and and meal programs, Lions clubs across the world organize food drives, distribute meals, and support food banks. Furthermore, many local clubs partner with schools and community centers to provide meals for children and families in need.
Some clubs and districts focus on long-term solutions, such as teaching communities sustainable farming techniques. They provide resources like seeds, farming tools, and livestock to help families grow their own food.
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) provides financial grants to districts and local clubs, allowing us to implement hunger relief programs tailored to our communities. One of such beneficiaries is District 404B2, who, through the assistance of LCIF organized two phases of Hunger Relief activities, one in Lagos State and the Other in Kwara State Nigeria. As of November 2024, over 30 million Nigerians are anticipated to face food insecurity in 2025, a significant increase from previous figures, due to economic hardships, high inflation, and soaring food prices. This therefore speaks volume and importance of every hunger relief/intervention programs organized by Lions club in Africa particularly in Nigeria.
Through a mix of immediate aid and sustainable solutions, Lions District 404B2 with the support of LCIF continues to play a crucial role in ending hunger and improving food security worldwide. It is therefore not a surprise that the recent beneficiaries at Ilorin extolled the virtues of Lions International singing high praises and commending the association for serving a world in need.
Thank you, Lions Clubs International Foundation for making a difference in the world!
