In May 2023, The Devils Lake Lions joined in partnership with the Rotary Club and Kiwanis Club to kick off the first ever Art in the Park Food Drive. The friendly competition started in June with the Rotary Club at the Roosevelt Park for the free to the public concert series, a community activity for the past 10 years. July was set for Lions and August for Kiwanis. United in service, the volunteers from these 3 clubs were supported each week by the local newspaper, the community calendar of events, and social media.
The plan was so successful that the director of the Hope Center food pantry has joined the local Lions club. It was seeing the service to her community that inspired to join the Devils Lake Lions club.
Now a party is scheduled for September 19th to declare the Champion Club of the Food Drive. Invitations have been sent to the Chamber of Commerce, members of the 3 service clubs, city officials and a county commissioner to be at the party for the unveiling of the winning club. BEST IN SERVICE RESULT-the shelves of the food pantry are now restocked to serve over 350 needy families each month in Ramsey County.
