A door-to-door unique free screening, diagnosis, consultation & treatment project for the needy has been initiated by Lions Club of Dharan Ghopa United and their sponsored clubs, Health Ambassadors United Leo Club and Social Optimizers United Leo Club.
Under Project “Aarogya: Move For Health”, these clubs in collaboration with Lions Club of Biratnagar Green City, Lions Club of Biratnagar Gograha, Lions Club of Biratnagar Envision, Leo Club Of Biratnagar Gograha held a “Diabetes & Hypertension Awareness & Screening Health Camp” at Shree Mahila Jagrathi & Briddha Ashram, Biratnagar.
The camp was inaugurated by Past District Governor Lion Bhim Ghimire in presence of Leos, Leo Lions, Lions and residents. A team of medical healthcare professionals led by Leo Lion Dr. Shuvam Kumar Agrawal together with medicos & paramedicos, most of whom are Lions, Leo Lions & Leos served in this outreach camp and ensured screening with consultation.
During the health camp, around 65 people were screened for obesity, Diabetes and Hypertension & will now be followed up with tertiary care service for further management. All services are provided free of cost. Lion Chandramani Guragain, Lion Bihang Chaudhary, Lion Bijendra Karn, Lion Sabita Ojha Subedi, OVr. Shuvash Yadav, Leo Manisha Raut Giri, Leo Prakash Pokharel, Leo Jeevan Dhungel, Leo Swarna Subash and Leo Ashish Shah volunteered in the health camp.
Charter President of Lions Club of Dharan Ghopa United & Advisor of Health Ambassadors United Leo Club and Social Optimizers United Leo Club, Leo Lion Dr. Shuvam Kumar Agrawal says that the camp aimed to render free health care services at the door steps of the ill and make timely medical intervention among poor needy communities by providing free treatment to the needy to raise their quality of life.
Speaking at the camp on Saturday, PDG Lion Bhim Ghimire appreciated the young Lions, Leo Lions and Leos for their kind gesture & assured all help & support. He told, these community campaigns have also brought about welcoming change in attitudes of the families and community towards chronic illness. Patients benefited from these camps, after being cured can be further rehabilitated and lead normal life, as stated by Lion Bijendra Karn, President of Lions Club of Biratnagar Gograha.
Lion Bihang Chaudhary, President of Lions Club of Biratnagar Green City shared tht the people who attended the camp were thankful to Lions International for providing them free check-up, medications & awareness. Raman, who lives in the ward there said, “People here were struggling with their health issues & were in need of a health camp. I thank Lions, Leo Lions and Leos for this noble initiative & we believe everyone here will be well soon. Thank you so much!”
President of Lions Club of Biratnagar Envision, Lion Sabita Ojha Subedi said such health camps provided access to health care for the less privileged in society.
