Smiling Faces Say It All

A Brave Boy’s Struggle with Blindness

11-year-old Kuldeep Nagwanshi, a tribal boy from Kusum Dhana village near Damua, had been struggling with poor vision since early childhood. His mother, Visanti Nagwanshi, noticed something was wrong when Kuldeep couldn’t even see his toys or walk properly. The family, being economically weak, first went to a traditional healer for treatment, but it didn’t help.

A Neighbor’s Support Brings Hope

Kuldeep’s neighbor, Mrs. Shashi Rajpoot, had a good relationship with his family. She suggested several times that they visit Lions Eye Hospital & Research Center, Parasia, for treatment. However, Kuldeep’s mother couldn’t afford to check or operate on her son’s eyes. Finally, under Mrs. Shashi’s guidance and encouragement, they visited the hospital for help.

Free Surgery: A Ray of Hope

At the hospital, Senior Manager Mr. Gajanand discussed Kuldeep’s case with the hospital trustee and surgeon, Dr. Kushal Pandit. Understanding the family’s financial struggles, they decided to perform Kuldeep’s surgery free of cost.

A Brave Child Overcomes His Fear
Kuldeep is a courageous boy but had a strong fear of injections. To make him comfortable, the surgeon decided to perform Topical Phaco Cataract Surgery, a modern technique without the use of injections, using a high-quality lens. Even in the operation theater, Kuldeep remained cheerful and brave.

The Staff’s Compassion Made a Difference

The hospital staff played a crucial role in keeping Kuldeep calm and relaxed during the entire process. Their kind words and support helped him stay composed. The surgery went smoothly and without complications. To ensure safety, a protective pad and bandage were placed over Kuldeep’s operated eye.

New Vision, New Life

After the surgery, Kuldeep’s mother, Visanti, was overwhelmed with emotion. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff and doctors for giving her son a chance at a better life. Kuldeep now has the opportunity to see the world clearly and live his life to the fullest.
