The spirit of “Catch ‘Em Young”
The spirit of “Catch ‘Em Young” shines when children are guided towards meaningful causes from an early age.
A heartening example is young Vaidehi Verma, granddaughter of Lion Lalji Verma of the Lucknow Greater Lions Club, District 321B1. She recently took part in a tree plantation drive organized during the “Environment” 3rd Week of Service (April 18–26, 2026) by Lions Clubs International.
The programme was held at La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow, Vaidehi’s alma mater. Returning to her school for such a noble initiative made the occasion even more meaningful. The campus was filled with energy as students, teachers, and Lions Club members gathered with a shared purpose to contribute towards a greener and healthier environment.
Vaidehi participated with great enthusiasm, planting saplings and learning the importance of nurturing nature. With her hands in the soil and determination in her eyes, she represented a generation ready to care for the planet. Inspired by her grandfather, she understood that even small efforts can lead to big change.
Lion Lalji Verma expressed pride in seeing his granddaughter actively involved. He emphasized that when children are introduced early to values like environmental conservation, these values stay with them for life. The initiative reflected the Lions Club’s commitment to community service and sustainable living.
The drive was not just about planting trees but about planting awareness. Students were educated on the role of trees in maintaining ecological balance, improving air quality, and addressing climate change. They were encouraged to take responsibility for the saplings they planted, turning the activity into a lasting commitment.
Adding to this proud moment, Vaidehi also received recognition during the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony 2025-2026 at La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow . She was honoured as a “Promising Sports Girl” in National Rifle Shooting, and awarded a certificate along with a cash prize of ₹11,000. This achievement highlights her dedication not only to social causes but also to excellence in sports.
For Vaidehi, these experiences go beyond participation, they are lessons shaping her future. Whether contributing to environmental conservation or excelling in sports, she is steadily building a strong foundation of responsibility and achievement.
As we look ahead, we are confident that Vaidehi has a bright and promising future. Her journey reminds us that when we guide children in the right direction early in life, we nurture individuals who will lead with purpose, passion, and commitment.
